E20 fuel is a petrol blend containing 20% ethanol and 80% conventional petrol, designed to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lower vehicle emissions. Ethanol, derived from crops like sugarcane, helps cut carbon dioxide output and supports local farmers, making E20 a more environmentally and economically sustainable fuel option.  Vehicles designed or compatible with E20 can benefit from its higher octane rating, which may improve combustion efficiency and engine performance.  However, for older vehicles not built for E20, the ethanol content can absorb moisture, potentially causing corrosion in fuel lines, gaskets, and injectors, and slightly reducing mileage by 3–6%.  Overall, E20 is a greener alternative, but suitability depends on vehicle compatibility.
